Talk:People whose names sound a little bit like food

From Tagberry

I remember many years ago a Danny Baker phone-in when he was on GLR when he got people to phone in with people who's names sound a little bit like food (this was prompted when he met a Mr Gordon Zola) and that was one of the funniest bits of Radio I'd ever heard.

The best one was the story of Mr Appleton, who married a eastern-european woman. The custom there is to take their husband's surname and and 'OVA' to the end.

I found a webpage with more details!

I thought this worthy of rearchiving on this list.

Note that Danny Baker didn't believe the 'Russell Sprout' one for a minute, and got someone to check how many 'Sprouts' there were in the phone book (total 0).

Danny Baker's show also covered other important scientific discoveries, such as the discovery that a can of Diet Coke floats, and a can of normal Coke sinks.

Does Salman (salmon) Rushdie count for either list? His first name sounds a bit like food but the surname spoils it.

Yep! Tag it --Bonjo Nelson 01:42, 16 March 2006 (GMT)

This should be changed to 'people whose names sound a little bit like food'

Damn - caught by the grammar police yet again! --Bonjo Nelson 00:15, 17 March 2006 (GMT)
